Alright, question time. How do you feel about sharing your faith?
Now, honesty time. It can be hard to do. Of course, we know this is a great thing. But we can, simultaneously admit, this is a terrifying thing.
Some people look for those opportunities to share. Some people start to sweat and stutter. Some people just don’t do it. They avoid it they don’t wanna mess it up and don’t wanna push someone further away, etc, and so some people just don’t say anything.
But I heard something at church that might unlock something for you – no matter which person you identify with, but especially if you struggle with sharing your faith.
It’s from author Madeleine L’Engle, author of A Wrinkle in Time. She said, “we draw people to Christ, not by loudly discrediting what they believe or by telling them how wrong they are and how right we are. We [draw people to Christ by] showing them a light so lovely they want with all their hearts to know the source of it.”
Please understand, this is not an easy way out of ever talking to someone about Jesus. I think it’s an important addition to what sharing our faith actually is. Mm-hmm. It does involve words. But it also requires me to live a life that others would want. Peace in the storms, forgiveness given, hope shown. That’s how we can share our faith, too.
