We are so excited to have you on board here at The River during the upcoming event, but wanted to let you know that if you have volunteered in the past things are going to be a little different!
The River is making some changes to adhere to some of the industry standards for call centers. After doing a review of our process it was determined that there are a few areas that could potentially cause some liability issues, and so to better serve our callers and ensure the protection of their data it’s going to be a little different. But don’t worry! We’re still going to have a lot of fun, with games and food and everything else that makes Sharathon fun!
Here’s what’s going to be different:
- The computers are going to be adjusted so that they can only take donations. – Unfortunately, Facebook and other websites will no longer be accessible at the phone locations.
- All pens and paper will be removed from the room. – This will ensure that no one can copy down a Credit Card Number, and take it home with them.
- Your personal items such as cell phones etc, will be stored in a nearby safe location. – Same reason as above.
We’re hoping to change it up a little bit and make things more laid back so if you need to get up and check your phone, or want a break you can do that. It may take a little getting used to, but we’re excited to have you back, and we’ll make sure you have a good time! We just thought it would be good to let you know so that there won’t be any surprises. 🙂
