Upcycling Jars & Cans

Upcycling-Jars-and-CansRepurposing and up cycling jars and cans is just one way we can all be more efficient with our money and crafty with our time. These projects are a really fun way to use what you already have to create something fun and unique.

BABY FOOD JAR LANTERNS:
All this required was taking the wraper off a baby food jar and attacing some wire to hang it. Pop a tea light in, and boom – a cute lil lantern.

MASON JAR SUCCULENT VASES:
You can just use old jars for vases with water, or you can use them as little succulent holders. These things are great for gifts, too. With the succulent being so earthy, the jar brings a little class to the table. Add a ribbon when gifting one. They make great party favors as well.

SOUP CAN PLANTER:
The industrial flare is in right now. If you have a cool can, flaunt it. If you are looking for a way to turn them into a planter, use air dry clay in any design you want and wrap it around the soup can. (I just rolled mine into strips and wrapped them in horizontal loops around the can.) Then paint it any color you want.

For more can upcycling ideas, here’s a cool blog I found, and here’s a way to upcycle an applesauce jar that I thought was a great idea for the kitchen or for parties. And (last one, I promise!) here’s a tutorial on how to make a mason jar tissue holder.

If you’ve found some other ways to upcycle jars and cans, please share them! I’d love to try them out.
