Grace is defined as “the love and mercy given to us by God because God desires us to have it, not because of anything we have done to earn it”.
We are coming out of the Easter season right now and are freshly reminded of what Jesus did on the cross for us. Because of his selfless act God shows us grace and loves us in spite of who we are. Grace is such a vital aspect of Christian faith because without grace we are left to try and prove our worth and earn God’s love and favor. The thing is, this is an impossible feat because we are an imperfect people. This is where grace comes in. It is freely given to us based on nothing other than God’s unconditional love for us.
Amazing grace! how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch; like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.
’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed!
The Lord hath promised good to me,
His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures.
When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
