Caught in a Hamster Wheel

caught-in-a-hamster-wheel-routineA hamster in a wheel. That’s what I think about sometimes when I look at my life.

The little one—get him out of bed, change diaper, change clothes, feed him, playtime, change diaper, nap time, snack time, playtime…you get the point.  It can feel so incredibly monotonous some days as we do the same thing over and over and over, BUT a new year means we’re allowed to shake things up and reinvent who we are.

In my head, I so desperately want to be “that mom” who always has the house in tip-top shape, meals planned out for the week and always looks like she just stepped out of a salon, but for me, that’s not reality.  In this new year I want to embrace the “different” and spontaneous things in life, whether that’s a sock matching party to help mommy with the laundry, or a buffet of leftovers for dinner because I don’t have time to make dinner.

I may not do things like other families, but as long as we’re together, that’s what matters.
