Love One Another

The Facebook unfriend…..ahhhh. How many of us have done it or had it done to us.

I’m not gonna lie: I let it get to me. Or I have in the past. Sometimes too much. And at first I didn’t know why it bothered me. Other friends would tell me to let it go (cue the song from Frozen?) but it was difficult, especially if the unfriender was someone I thought was a….well….friend.

Then I read what River artists Love & The Outcome (husband and wife team Jodi and Chris) had to say about it. They ask if we “peace out” of conversations as soon as someone disagrees with us. Do we? It IS super tempting to do. BUT! They suggested an alternative: as followers of Christ, what if we kept talking. And what if …….we started listening? What if we stayed friends with people who see things differently than we do? The more we cancel people the less conversation happens, and the harder it is for things to change.

The best way to prove who Jesus is to you is by loving those you disagree with, not deleting them from your life.

Wow. That got me to think about the unfriends, the blocks, the unfollows….Sometimes it’s hard to love those that hurt us. But it sure feels better than trying to get revenge, doesn’t it? I’ll be praying for you as you navigate this…and won’t you pray for me as well? I sure could use it. Thanks, Friend!

In John 13:34, Jesus said, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.”
