Veryyy Scaryyy

OOOooOOOoo it’s veryyyy scaaaarrryyyy!

What is, you ask? Well…life. Life can be very scary.

BUT did you know there are hundreds of references to fear in the Bible? More specifically, hundreds of places where we’re encouraged NOT to fear.
And because it’s mentioned so many times, we can assume it’s pretty important to God that we understand this message.

Let me be the first to admit that being told not to be scared when you are feels like being told “Don’t worry!” when you’re anxious…*cue the sarcasm* Why didn’t I think of that!

But what God does in his word is different because He doesn’t just say “Hey, stop being afraid.” He reminds us WHY we don’t have to be afraid.

He says fear not BECAUSE I am with you. I’m your God and I will help you. (Isaiah 41:10)
He says don’t fear BECAUSE I will fight for you.
(Deuteronomy 3:22)

God says He will cover you and be a safe space for you, SO you don’t have to be afraid. He’s right here whenever you need Him, SO you don’t have to be scared. (Psalm 91:4 and Psalm 46:1)

Fear creeps in. I can’t always control that. But knowing the truth helps me push past the fear to be able to hold onto the promise.
