I cannot wait to try this, folks.
I have always heard about those rare, bold, and brave individuals who make homemade donuts. While I emphatically applaud them, I also question their sanity. It just sounds incredibly difficult!
Yet, I recently came across this recipe and it has me salivating at the chance to join the ranks of the bold, brave, and insane. This sounds so gosh darn good…and EASY!
Let’s dive into this donut adventure together. Let me know how it goes!
Semi-Homemade Pumpkin Spice Donuts
Ingredients:
- 1 can Pillsbury Flaky Biscuits
- Canola oil (enough to fry)
- ½ cup white sugar
- 1 tbsp. pumpkin pie spice
Cinnamon Glaze Ingredients (optional):
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp. milk
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
Instructions:
- Take out each of the Pillsbury Biscuits and cut a hole in the middle of the biscuit dough. A circle cookie cutter or a small round Tupperware container will work (save those middles for donut holes).
- Combine sugar and pumpkin pie spice on large plate or cookie tray. Set aside for later use.
- Heat oil in a skillet on medium heat. Be careful not to overheat (if it’s too hot, the outside of the donut will burn before the inside has a chance to cook).
- Using tongs, gently place each biscuit in the oil. Fry for a few minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Remove donuts from oil and place on a paper towel. While they are still warm, dip each side in pumpkin spice/sugar mixture. Let donuts cool for several minutes.
- To make cinnamon glaze, mix powdered sugar, milk and ground cinnamon together with a small whisk or fork. Drizzle over warm, fresh donuts.
- Enjoy!
