Spring Cleaning Checklist

[prkwp_spacer]

Spring cleaning checklist – it’s a must for me. I got started today with my bedroom and my dog, Chloe. It went a little something like this:

I trimmed Chloe in my bathroom. Fur. Everywhere. Tossed Chloe in the bath. Trimmed her nails. Trimmed them too short. (Poor dog!) Tiny blood spots trailed through the house. Spot-cleaned carpet. Cleaned and bleached entire bathroom. Breathed in too much bleach. Took Ibuprofen for a headache. Washed blankets. Vacuumed. Went to empty the dirt container in the trash and spilled it all over the floor.

My spring cleaning checklist turned into a spring cleaning nightmare.

I can’t accomplish an entire list in one day because of my clumsiness and overall capability of causing messes…while I’m cleaning. So, I created my own spring cleaning checklist that breaks things up by room,  so I can take it day-by-day. Hopefully this helps you as well. It just targets the main rooms. If there’s something I’ve missed that you’d like to share with the crowd, leave a note in the comments section at the bottom of this page!

Spring Cleaning Checklist

Bathrooms

  • Bleach the shower / bathtub (For tough stains or spots I use Norwex Cleaning Paste. It’s not cheap, but it’s lasted me forever and got out my toughest bathtub stains. Plus it’s chemical free. Great for your home!)
  • Unclog the drain
  • Wash shower curtain (if possible)
  • Replace your shower liner
  • Toilet (outside & inside)
  • Clean the sinks and counters
  • Wipe out cabinets / shelves
  • Clean the floor and baseboards
  • Shake/vacuum/wash rugs
  • Wipe down mirrors

Bedrooms

  • Donate anything you don’t want
  • Flip your mattress
  • Wash all sheets & blankets
  • Dust every nook & cranny
  • Vacuum / Sweep (even under the bed and in the closets, folks)
  • Sweep around the baseboards with an attachment (aka suck out all the spiders from that creepy crack between the carpet and wall)
  • Clean baseboards

Kitchen

  • Clean out your fridge and pantry
  • Pull out your fridge and oven and clean around and under them
  • Clean out your microwave (to help with caked on food, microwave a wet – but not dripping – towel or paper towel for about 30 sec to 1 min depending on your microwave power to steam it up)
  • Turn on the self-clean in the oven (read your manual instructions!)
  • Wipe the tops and the insides of all the cupboards
  • Clean all counters with a little bit of bleach
  • Scrub that sink out (along with any drying racks or sink racks)
  • Clean the floor and baseboards
  • Wash any pet food/water bowls

Living Areas

  • Dust off all pictures or accessories on the walls
  • Dust off all entertainment items
  • Wipe down all end tables (and legs) and shelves
  • Use a screen-safe cloth to wipe down your TV screen
  • Have any slipcovers? Wash ’em.
  • Wash all blankets or throws
  • Take couch cushions off and vacuum them and under them
  • Fluff pillows and cushions
  • Sweep around the baseboards with an attachment
  • Vacuum under everything

A Few Extra, Easy Ways to Make it Feel Like Spring

  • Consider shampooing your carpets (I rent a carpet shampoo vacuum from Kroger)
  • Clean all your windows, inside and out
  • Switch out your pictures with newer ones
  • Change around the layout of your room while you clean
  • Organize your closets…you know you need to…
  • Deep clean and detail your car, and buy new sunglasses 😉
  • Buy some flowers to celebrate checking off your spring cleaning checklist!

I’d love to hear spring cleaning stories, tips, and lessons from you!
